Last week, the shower fell on my head. It was a chilly morning. First, I thought it was frozen ice. Then, I realised the whole damn thing was broken.

I called the plumber. He came in at lightning speed. So quick that he forgot to take his tools. He was the finest plumber in town, but without the tools he was as good as my Neighbour Jerry.

The only difference between humans today and humans 10000 years ago is tools.

You might be a social media expert. You might have the creativity to make content that attracts attention. You might even have the insight to understand the trends. But without the right tools, you are only 1% of what you can be.

A lot of professionals don’t update their arsenal.

We find an amazing tool. We fall in love with it. And we keep on using it for years and years.

What if your Grandpa still used pigeons instead of Gmail?

Here is the 2017 list of must have tools for social media:

Live Video Maker – Shakr.

Small businesses and big brands are turning to social media video advertising for discovery, entertainment and brand awareness.

And with the number of video ad views totaling to 28.7 billion last year, you just can’t ignore it! However, as the cost for making video ads are too expensive, most marketers were still testing waters. Shakr changes all that. It is the missing piece of puzzle that saves the day here.

Shakr aims to help Small business owners ( real estate agents, car dealers, restaurant owners) to create video advertising campaigns for their marketplace at a very affordable price.

All you need to do is pick stock images from the application and drop them in the video creator. The output is a stunning HD video for your video ad campaign. Their templates are designed by graphic designers who have worked for brands like Nike and Samsung in the past.

You can also preview the HD-quality, non-watermarked video clips and themes before buying them.

WeVideo

Another popular social media app I have come across is WeVideo. Like Shakr, WeVideos also helps you create live videos. But the best thing I like about them is that you can capture and edit your video on your mobile on the go.
WeVideo boasts of giving full creative control to the users.Their main motto is that imagination should be the foundation of any kickass video. They make it very easy to create a great movie.

With features like photo animation, voice over, and clip transformation, screencasting etc, WeVideo seems no less than a mix of professional video editing tools within a single application.

WeVideo is the one stop solution for making anything from family videos to product demos. It can be used in both PC and smartphone.

Animated Videos: Animaker

Animated videos are underestimated.

While it cannot provide the richness of a real video, it has its own advantages.

It’s not just an app for explainer videos. In addition to having a huge list of awesome features to make cool animations, it can come to your rescue:

1. If your target audience is not from your country and you don’t have the money to hire a foreign actor.

2. When you want your imagination to make all the rules.

3. When you want to incite warm emotions while showing a factory or anything boring.

4. If you are catering to a statistics heavy topic.

5. If you want to make changes later.

Animaker edges out most other apps in the same segment thanks to 2 things:

Better Visuals: More lively characters in the app with new characters coming up all the time.

A constant update of features: Last year we came up with Video Infographics and this year we’ve already brought in Animaker Decks: which can convert your video into a slide show presentation. But our landmark innovation this year would be the addition of the world’s first vertical video maker. If you haven’t already, you should check it out now.

Video slideshows – Animoto

Like the 3 tools mentioned above, Animoto also has a unique feature- Video slideshows.

It gives you a video slideshow instead of a video as an output which is recreated out of free images, video clips or music clips. Animoto has patented Cinematic Artificial Intelligence technology which makes all of this possible.

The company aims to help users make professional looking videos instead of poorly made camcorder video clips. And it turned out to be true when Animoto’s Facebook application launched in 2008 had nearly 750,000 people signed up in just three days!

If you want to create a video slideshow with an attractive mix of video clips, images and music clips, Animoto is a tool you need to try.

Magisto

If you want to add a personal touch to their social videos, Magisto holds a big advantage. With their emotion sense technology, the tool automatically selects the best parts of the video and clubs it into a beautiful story that elicits emotion.

The patented emotion sense technology is said to work on three levels: Visual analysis, audio analysis and storytelling.

After a detailed analysis of the video, the tool identifies the main character of the video, the topic of the video and uses the emotion guided techniques to form a perfect story.

From personal videos to commercial ads, Magisto captures the core element of your video (the story) and makes it compelling to look at.

All with an easy-to-use interface with editing tools, captions, custom branding and pre- themed templates. Magisto has come a long way to be called a “smart video storytelling application”.

It’s a war out there. Having a good plan alone won’t be enough to stand out. You need to use the right tools as well. Remember, Iron man would be just talk and no show if he didn’t have the suit.

An initiative by the Government of India, to encourage companies to manufacture their products in India

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4Kj9SsPRbY"target="_blank" rel="nofollow">

Make in India is an initiative by the Government of India, to encourage companies to manufacture their products in India.

Simply defining, Make in India is a campaign to promote Indians to manufacture in India instead of importing.

Where as “Made in India” is a product finished and finally packed in India or completely made in India.

Manufacturing will be successful only if the government manages to convince companies to manufacture in India.

So ‘Make-in-India’ aims at promoting India as an investment destination and establishing the country as a global hub for manufacturing, design and innovation. The major objective behind the initiative is to focus on 25 sectors of the economy for job creation and skill enhancement.

The initiative also looks at providing a congenial environment to the business community so that they can devote their effort, resources and energy to productive work.

Watch the creative video clearly explaining the difference between “Made in India” and “Make in India”.

How to formulate startup branding? 10 ways of how a mobile startup can uncover current and future development to stay ahead of the race.

Competition is aggressive in a business and is brutal for a startup. It is better for a startup to accept the fact that, competition is an indispensable component and there is no other choice than fighting out. There are predators that want to eat up and swallow small startups like you in hopes of eliminating the competition. Do you want to fall a prey to such ruthless predators or gain the courage to withstand and fight against them.
Startups tend to think, branding is a material that is intended for top businessmen and premium products. But, branding is essential for any startup and matters much more for a mobile startup.
In the present day, Mobile communication is the primary means of communication that exploits technology. Mobile communication is trending to keep up with user demand. Technology is driving the industry to develop faster and more efficient. Now, we see umpteen number of mobile startups? How will you clear the clutter and win the race?
Regardless, of your potentialities, the attractive USP, the magical X factor, you cannot escape that stiff competition at some point. How to beat the competition? The answer is you got to stay ahead of it. This article brings together 10 ways of how a mobile startup can uncover current and future development and how to factor that to stay ahead of the race.
Here’s how.

1. Telling a great startup story

Many of us use it but only a few have mastered it. Storytelling. Yes, a story is worth a good start. In an era where consumers are bombarded with irrelevant information, success in business will be had only by those who have mastered the art of narrating a captivating story. “Tell it, Don’t sell it” should be your mantra. Your customers are mobbed by millions of advertisements, campaigns, hoardings and so on. Precisely, they live amidst noise and cannot hear you. But you can edge out your competition with a powerful and convincing story; the most powerful way to put ideas in the world, today.
Even the tech-titan Apple had to learn the importance of a good story. In 80’s, Apple attempted to persuade IT executives and top companies to adopt Mac through ads but they failed. Overtime, they turned the stone only with a gentle persistent storytelling.

2. Define your brand

Branding is a survival tool. It helps you to sustain in the competition before a fierce combat. Branding involves 2 components- Naming your business and discerning the logo of your product.

Naming your startup right

Naming your startup is an overwhelming and an exhaustive experience. Name is like an address for a startup. Names might seem simple. But, in this cluttered information highway, startup names should be unique to mark them well from the competition. It has become a trend to reach out to consultants and name developers who suggest the right name that fits your product and brand. A brainstorming of the company’s mission and vision is followed by a linguistic and context analysis. Language patterns are analyzed in the consultation and the study resolves the cultural nuances of a name.

Know what makes a good name.

Brainstorm a list of names.

Narrow it down to a few decent names.

Pick the one that is perfect.

Names generate emotional responses. In fact, popular brands such as Apple and Google, made the cut recently in an Adweek survey that measured emotional responses from consumers to major brands. Define your brand with the right name and site a triumphing address. Create a unique brand personality.

Spend time for your logo

Logo is the face of your brand. It is related to every aspect of your business. An identity to your company and forms a first impression on the consumer’s mind.
The reason behind a logo design is knowing your startup story. Know your company’s objectives and how you are going to brand yourself, while knowing what your consumers will respond to. Company principles and values come alive in logos, and it shouldn’t just be carried by market data. Know that your logo can emerge along with your brand without losing the core of your business.

3. Social Media Branding Plan

Social media is both bane and boon for marketers. It is one of the most standardized marketing strategy. There are 3 steps to follow,

Ascertain your startup goal.

Decide your target customer.

Build real world relationship with them in the media.

4. Founders’ business behavior

A startup founder should be a good leader. He should set a role model to the members of his organisation. There are certain virtues that portray a fine business behaviour and always keep a founder in control,

Trust and Integrity.

Focus only on things that are primary for the business.

Reinforce productivity.

Establish Authority in the market.

5. Know your competitors

Study the competition you are facing. By doing so, you will identify the areas you need to improve. Who are they? What are they selling? What is their USP? How do they stand out in the market? The answer to these questions will enable you to gain insight on the competitive nature of the market and helps in resolving solutions to handle the fight.

6. Connect with customers

To combat potential poaching, build and maintain a relationship with your customers. Deepen your customer relationship by being responsive to their needs. Take time to survey and understand what they really want?

Price

Quality

Service

Latest Product

Once you have gained insight on their requirement, attempt to meet the customer expectation. Be flexible and reassess your marketing strategy. Excite your customers with innovation. Promos bring excitement. Plan a new promo every month.
Early Bird promo, invite a friend promo, Get one buy one promo, Weekend promo and so on.

7. Stand Out

Establish your uniqueness. Show the market that solid reason to buy your product and draw the customers towards your product. They should not have a second thought of going back to your rivals. Explain to the market Who you are? What you sell? Why customers should come to you? It can be a small flyer or, brochure or a classy and expensive media campaign. Frequently, emphasize the freshness in your product or service. Customers fantasize and are attracted towards newness.

8. Leverage a skilled team

The success stories of many businesses is backed by a strong team. Attract fresh and motivated skilled talent by providing a healthy work culture and environment. Throw an opportunity for a structured career growth. And hence draw in the key resources that can serve the best for your organisation. The key resource can equip your product to stay ahead of the competition.

9. Stay ahead in technology

Technology is the need of the hour in any field and is unavoidable for a mobile startup. A mobile launched with the current technology is more likely to take the market by storm. A mobile technology which offers real-time interoperability solutions, a compatible platform for all mobile networks can definitely stay ahead of the competition. Be it Android or IOS, look out for innovation and exploit it in your product. Update with the latest technology to pull the customers towards your product.

10. Maintain a business blog

Brands are incomplete without a voice, and there is no better way to deliver branded messages than blogging. Content Marketing is going to stay, we may see changes only the forms of content. Hence, it is good to maintain a blog and regularly post content supporting your business. Content that are keyword rich and optimized by search engines can enable you to reach your goal.
There is beauty in brevity. Reach your target customers with crisp informations about your product in the form of infographics and explainer videos.

Hope this article aids all startups, especially to stay ahead of the competition. Wishes for a successful startup branding. Share your views on startup branding and your experience as a startup in staying ahead of competition.

It has 3 lessons for startups to follow for producing a break-through media/TV campaign on how to be creative, media planning and tracking.

In this network era, just raising an initial profile for the brand through a media campaign does not cut the mustard anymore. You should organize to build an effective mind-blowing campaign that projectiles right from creating awareness and moves right into engagement as quick as possible. For a startup business such a break-through campaign can potentially skyrocket sales in the targeted market.

There are 3 secret lessons every startup must follow for producing that sparkling campaign and sweep the market by storm.

Be creative

Decide on the right type of production- a video, poster or a tagline. If its a video, then plan whether a live-action film or animated film. Judge the need of the hour and ascertain the media match for your brand. Radio though is safe for your budget cannot perform best for you. Television is the trendy media and can showcase your product to the global market.

A single production to feed that hour. One at a time can be your keyword to win the goal.

Make your campaign lucid that conveys a clear-cut insight of your brand.

Explain how you are unique and stand out from others. Precisely, show your USP.

Replay your brand name, logo and the URL to print your brand in viewer’s mind.

Bid the customers to respond and act by a compelling CTA.

Media Strategy

An ad that failed in grabbing the right audience attention at the right time cannot deliver its intended impact. Nor can an ad dispatched in the wrong geography can strike. So think twice and determine before posting.

Who are my audience?

Which media can give a throw?

Which channel is right for me?

Which program / slot will serve the need?

Push your sales targeting on smaller budget campaigns in mono-channels like radio. Strategize for a better reach with larger cross-media campaign that can result to a maximum exposure.

Aim to well allocate the timing by gaining the customer attention span with high frequency ads. For a relaxed, evening effect advertisement, television is the best choice and to reach to customers in morning routine, in the car or workplace radio comes to our rescue.

Hence, your pick should carefully exploit the various media to resolve the target.

FlipKart Ad

SnapDeal Ad

Track the Traffic

A few measures are there to appraise the short-term sales uplift.
TV has several tracking tools for assessing the traffic. The biggest and most obvious impact of TV-ads is the huge and instant response received. A response with a great crowd visiting the web site. The typing of the URL can serve as a single most important metric to track. If your direct traffic is not soaring up by over 80% and a part of direct traffic not jumping to a high 40’s you are answerable.
If its an out-of-home campaign like hoardings and print media then QR codes can be sort to track the trail.

Hence, we suggest you to adapt to all the 3 guidelines which can enable you to end up with that shining star campaign. Thanks for taking the time to travel with us. Leave your comments in the section below.

You don’t need to drastically change the look of your brand, but a few tweaks of existing designs (includes Logo, colours, Website, Headings, email signatures, and brand icons) could freshen things us a bit.

Other than the above visual identity of your brand, there is much more to it than just good design.

Schedules can help too. Writing a list of tasks that you would do an average day working on your brand, and write what parts of the day are busiest, quietest, etc. which allows you to plan upcoming to do’s for branding.

Remember, everyone in your team is a brand builder. Gather them and have a dedicated session to identify your true focus. Get your core value and make your message in single word, then even better. If not, then try to keep it clear, specific and relevant.

Hard work is hard, but necessary

Don’t sell short

Know your local creative community

Try anything/everything, Love what you do

Always document your work

Take risks, its ok if that becomes mistake

Share if you have the answer for a question

Be you, not them

Make the things happen by yourself, for yourself

Work/life balance is key

After All:

All we have a list of New Year’s Day resolutions as long as possible as the piece of paper that you wrote them on.

What is your resolution for the ‘brand’ new year? Planned to grow your brand bigger than last year? Or do you have a new social initiative planned?

To make the things simpler just write “Improve Our Brand” and focus/refocus more on your brand’s focus.

With your right branding strategy, whatever your resolution, welcome this brand new year and best of luck in 2014!
