Facebook’s chief executive Mark Zuckerberg and chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg acknowledged advertisers in a Facebook Business Post

Facebook counts 2 million active advertisers, and they have just two words to say to each one of their advertisers: “Thank you” (Click to see the official post by Facebook with ‘Thanks saying video’)

Here, its also important to emphasize – Active advertisers refers to the customers those who regularly buy ads through the company. Majority of them are small and medium-sized business owners.

Facebook’s chief executive Mark Zuckerberg and chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg acknowledged advertisers in a Facebook Business Post as follows:

This is a moment to celebrate all of the incredible entrepreneurs like you who are creating value for their communities.

Courtney, a mom in North Carolina who started The Produce Box, a company delivering fresh food that now provides a market for more than 40 farmers across the state.

Shubhra and Vivek, married Indian entrepreneurs who sold their house to raise the money to start Chumbak, an accessories company that now employs more than 150 people.

Thiago, a Brazilian man in the Amazon who turned his passion for making chocolate into Brigadore Brigadeiros Gourmet, a chain of stores and a national brand.

KaYoung, a young woman in South Korea who used her law school tuition money to launch HotelNow, a service for finding last-minute hotel rooms, which is now expanding across Asia.

And there are more than 2 million other inspiring stories of people working to grow their businesses. You’re creating jobs, sharing new ideas and inspiring all of us to dream big.

To support the customers better, Facebook also launched a mobile app for advertisers to use to manage their campaigns. The app, called Facebook Ads Manager, is initially available on iOS, and allows its users to create and edit ads, track spending, view ad results, receive ad-related notifications, and more.

Airbnb traditionally relied on social and word of mouth for building its consumer base. But recently, the company have eyed a bigger slice of the pie, with a bid to build its audience base beyond savvy early adopters.

The campaign is based around a short film, ‘Welcome to Airbnb’, and this video campaign sets out to explain what Airbnb does, exactly, in the most charming way possible.

Now see their behind the scenes peek at the making of “Welcome to Airbnb” video. Hope you enjoy the ride.

To produce this video, they spent five weeks 30 people building an 85-square-meter train set, with more than 2,400 craftsmen-hours spent creating the landscape. Also the work used 20 square meters of plywood, 12 liters of glue and more than 160 sheets of polyboard.

“The whole idea behind is to portray the world as a smaller place. It includes places from Australia, and from other parts of the world,” an Airbnb person said.

When you are a startup looking for some crowdfunding on platforms like indiegogo and Kickstarter, a great video is mandatory. They say building a compelling video alone would ensure your funding on these platforms.

When you are a startup looking for some crowdfunding on platforms like indiegogo and Kickstarter, a great video is mandatory. They say building a compelling video alone would ensure your funding on these platforms.

The challenge is you got to tell all about your project which you had planned across for years (or just researched on for multiple sleepless nights) in just a few minutes through a video. It’s not that these platforms restrict you or something, you just cannot risk creating a longer video where you have lost your audience midway.

A Staged development: One step at a time

Meticulously planning your video is necessary and do not just jump in to it and start creating a video. Take one step at a time.

Research on your project and answer the 5Ws and the H- What, When, Where, Who, which and How

Set your objective based on the above questions. Make sure your objective is achievable and develop a goal and your pitch will focus on this goal

Develop a script and finalize your video’s blueprint.

Wisely choose your video’s characters and the genre. Keep in mind that your funders want you to sound more promising.

People like fun but too much of comedy may make you seem less serious unless your work is focussed on comedy as an art form

A pitch with a spark

A pitch has to be memorable and by memorable we mean, in a nice way of course. Brevity is highly recommended and you can be assured that your viewers would be grateful for that

Oodles of passion and professionalism should emanate from your pitch

Your video must be clearly worded and to the point. Focus on what your investors would get and not on what you want. Sound very promising and genuine

Work on a feasible timeline. Do not sound urgent by putting in 15 days or do not sit on it for more than 60 days and make your funders impatient. Stick to a time which will let you complete your project without wasting time.

Have an achievable goal and do not be greedy. Tell them how you can work to perfection to not waste a penny on any unwanted stuff.

We would ask you to throw away your shyness and boldly ask for a donation. After all, you would not be here if you had enough money

Finally, like all the videos, a call to action is a must. Try closing the sale then and there by asking them to click the button to fund

Compelling perks are a easy hook

Work on the perks that a supporter/contributor of your project would receive. A well thought out giveaway will make them feel valued and important.

The usual T shirts and Sweatshirts have lost it’s charm but are still recommended if you have no other option in mind.

The perk can be a limited edition or customised product or a device that you had developed and not yet released or even an experience

Even a phone call or an email can go a long way

The coolest way is to give a shoutout on Social media and make a big bunch of people aware of your contributors
Do not just stop there

You had created your video and had uploaded it on Kickstarter or Indiegogo, What next?

Start focussing on your marketing efforts and spread the word. Create a supporter group for your product and start building a trusted team of evangelists for your project mainly in the online space.

Gather your friends on social media and ask them to lend their voice and give a shoutout to support you.
Meet bloggers and many online influencers and ask them to write a review.

Even a small testing with influencers before publishing your project may also help you work out what works best

An arm and a leg for videos

So far we spoke about how your video should be perfect enough to gain contributor’s attention. By now, you must have realized how important the quality of a video must be. You need not sell your arm and a leg to create these videos. Just use your smart phone with a good camera.

All that is important is a compelling script and a well planned storyline. Just dedicate your time and effort and create a perfect pitch.

Try something different like mixing live action and animated sequences. A kickstarter campaign definitely needs to sound more human and requires real life people yet some animated visuals may also lighten up the mood.

Videos can be a daunting task for many but remember ,videos speak more words than text. Showing is more important than telling.

Do you have plans to crowdfund your projects? Give us a shout out on your plans in the comments section below.

It has 3 lessons for startups to follow for producing a break-through media/TV campaign on how to be creative, media planning and tracking.

In this network era, just raising an initial profile for the brand through a media campaign does not cut the mustard anymore. You should organize to build an effective mind-blowing campaign that projectiles right from creating awareness and moves right into engagement as quick as possible. For a startup business such a break-through campaign can potentially skyrocket sales in the targeted market.

There are 3 secret lessons every startup must follow for producing that sparkling campaign and sweep the market by storm.

Be creative

Decide on the right type of production- a video, poster or a tagline. If its a video, then plan whether a live-action film or animated film. Judge the need of the hour and ascertain the media match for your brand. Radio though is safe for your budget cannot perform best for you. Television is the trendy media and can showcase your product to the global market.

A single production to feed that hour. One at a time can be your keyword to win the goal.

Make your campaign lucid that conveys a clear-cut insight of your brand.

Explain how you are unique and stand out from others. Precisely, show your USP.

Replay your brand name, logo and the URL to print your brand in viewer’s mind.

Bid the customers to respond and act by a compelling CTA.

Media Strategy

An ad that failed in grabbing the right audience attention at the right time cannot deliver its intended impact. Nor can an ad dispatched in the wrong geography can strike. So think twice and determine before posting.

Who are my audience?

Which media can give a throw?

Which channel is right for me?

Which program / slot will serve the need?

Push your sales targeting on smaller budget campaigns in mono-channels like radio. Strategize for a better reach with larger cross-media campaign that can result to a maximum exposure.

Aim to well allocate the timing by gaining the customer attention span with high frequency ads. For a relaxed, evening effect advertisement, television is the best choice and to reach to customers in morning routine, in the car or workplace radio comes to our rescue.

Hence, your pick should carefully exploit the various media to resolve the target.

FlipKart Ad

SnapDeal Ad

Track the Traffic

A few measures are there to appraise the short-term sales uplift.
TV has several tracking tools for assessing the traffic. The biggest and most obvious impact of TV-ads is the huge and instant response received. A response with a great crowd visiting the web site. The typing of the URL can serve as a single most important metric to track. If your direct traffic is not soaring up by over 80% and a part of direct traffic not jumping to a high 40’s you are answerable.
If its an out-of-home campaign like hoardings and print media then QR codes can be sort to track the trail.

Hence, we suggest you to adapt to all the 3 guidelines which can enable you to end up with that shining star campaign. Thanks for taking the time to travel with us. Leave your comments in the section below.
